Selected Brasiliana of the Latin American Library
In conjunction with the Brazilian Studies Association Conference (March 27-29, 2008), the Latin American Library recently displayed a broad selection of colonial-era, nineteenth century, and modern Brazilian materials from the archives of the Latin American Library. Featured items include Historia naturalis Brasilae by Willem Piso (Amsterdam, 1648), selections from the Revista Illustrada, the first edition of Dom Casmurro by Machado de Assis, Ballard S. Dunn's Brazil: Home for the Southerners (1866), Adolfo Caminha's No Paiz dos Yankees (1894), photographs by Marc Ferrez, and the Brazilian postcard collection of Stanford professor and popular radio host Ronald Hilton.
