Broadsides
The Latin American Library has a large number of broadsides or printed sheets used in the diffusion of political news and argument and artistic expression in Latin America, including hundreds of original prints by the Mexican satirical artist José Guadalupe Posada (1852-1913).
Many of the broadsides, both originals and reproductions, are contained in books and can be identified searching the Tulane University Libraries Catalog using the LC Subject Heading "broadsides" or such keywords as "calaveras," "prints," and "caricatures."
Other broadsides were catalogued as manuscripts, including fifty-three Posada broadsides in the William Gates Collection, thirty additional Posada broadsides in the Nicolás León Collection, and assorted political broadsides in the Mexican Printed Ephemera Collection (See Manuscripts).
